1. Introduction

Welcome to ImagePilot. Your privacy is critically important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our website and services.

2. Information We Collect

Image Data: All image processing — compression, resizing, cropping, merging, format conversion, PDF creation, HEIC conversion, and AI background removal — happens entirely within your browser, using your own device's processor. We do not upload, store, or have access to any images you process using ImagePilot. Your files never leave your device, and this remains true for the AI background remover: the AI model is downloaded to your browser and runs there, rather than your photo being sent anywhere.

Metadata in your files: Our tools rebuild your image from its raw pixels, so information embedded in the original file — such as GPS coordinates, capture time, and camera or device details — is not carried into the file you download. This happens on your device; we never see either version.

Contact Information: When you use our contact form, we collect your name, email address, and message content solely for the purpose of responding to your inquiry. This message is delivered to us by our email provider, Mailjet.

Analytics: We use Google Analytics and Ahrefs Analytics to understand how visitors interact with our site, such as which pages are visited and for how long. Google Analytics may set cookies to distinguish visitors; Ahrefs Analytics operates without cookies. In addition to page views, we record a simple event when a tool finishes its work, containing only: which tool was used, how many files were processed, the chosen output format, and — for background removal — which AI model and background option was picked. These events never include file names, file contents, image dimensions, or anything derived from your images. We do not receive any personally identifying information from these tools.

3. Third-Party Requests Made by Your Browser

The AI background remover needs an AI model to run on your device. The first time you use it, your browser downloads that model (approximately 42–84 MB, depending on which one you choose) from a content delivery network operated by IMG.LY, at staticimgly.com. As with any request for a file on the internet, that provider can see your IP address and browser user-agent. Your photo is never part of that request — the model travels to you, not the other way around. After the first download the model is stored in your browser (see section 7), so later use requires no further requests, and the tool then works even with no internet connection.

Our analytics providers (Google and Ahrefs) also load their scripts from their own domains, which likewise exposes your IP address to them. Apart from these, our tools make no third-party requests: the other image tools and their WebAssembly components are served from ImagePilot itself.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or transfer your personal information to outside parties. We may share information with trusted service providers (e.g., email delivery via Mailjet) who assist us in operating our website, as long as they agree to keep this information confidential. We never share your images, because we never have them.

6. Affiliate Links

Some pages and blog articles on ImagePilot contain affiliate links to third-party products and services we consider genuinely relevant. If you click one of these links and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. Affiliate links are always labeled with a visible disclosure (“Affiliate link — we may earn a commission”). Clicking an affiliate link takes you to the third party's website, which operates under its own privacy policy; we do not share any of your personal information with affiliate partners, and affiliate relationships never affect how the image tools themselves work — your files still never leave your device.

7. Cookies, Local Storage & On-Device Storage

ImagePilot itself does not set cookies. We use your browser's local storage to remember preferences such as your theme choice, whether you dismissed the app-install prompt, and which AI model you already downloaded for background removal — this data stays on your device and is never sent to us.

Our service worker also caches files on your device so pages load faster and work offline. This includes site assets and, once you use the background remover, the AI model itself — which is tens of megabytes and is deliberately kept between visits so you never have to download it twice. You can remove all of it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings; the tools will simply download what they need again next time.

8. Security

We implement appropriate security measures to protect your personal information. However, no method of electronic transmission is 100% secure. Because your images are processed on your own device and are never transmitted to us, they are not exposed to this risk at all.
